While more than half a billion people across Africa are now subscribed to mobile services as the continent continues to migrate rapidly to mobile broadband networks, , mobile ecosystem contributes more $150 billion in economic value of African economy, latest report released at the just concluded GSMA Mobile 360 – Africa event held in Dar es Salaam, has indicated. The new report, ‘The Mobile Economy: Africa 2016’ is authored by GSMA Intelligence, the research arm of the GSMA. The report also highlighted the increasing contribution of Africa’s mobile industry to the regional economy, including employment and public funding, and mobile’s role a platform for digital and financial inclusion.

“More than half a billion people across Africa are now subscribed to a mobile network, providing them not just with connectivity but a gateway to a range of other essential services in areas such as digital identity, healthcare and financial services,” Mats Granryd, Director General, GSMA, said, adding that, “The rapid move to mobile broadband networks is also unlocking new opportunities for consumers, businesses and governments, growing an ecosystem that last year added more than $150 billion in value to Africa’s economy.”

“The positive transformational impact of mobile is being felt more profoundly in Africa than anywhere else in the world; Africa’s mobile industry is at the forefront of helping to deliver the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, Granryd, said, adding that , “We are focused on creating a better future for citizens and businesses across Africa, providing access to essential information and services, improved employment and economic opportunities, and greater productivity and competitiveness.”

Network investments, smartphones drive mobile broadband adoption The report further revealed that there were 557 million unique mobile subscribers across Africa at the end of 2015, equivalent to 46 per cent of the continent’s population, making Africa the second-largest – but least penetrated – mobile market in the world. According to the report, Africa’s three largest markets – Egypt, Nigeria and South Africa together accounted for around a third of the total subscriber base. The number of unique mobile subscribers is forecast to reach 725 million by 2020, accounting for 54 per cent of the expected population by this point.

African mobile subscribers, the report added are rapidly migrating to mobile broadband networks and services, a result of ongoing network rollouts and the increasing availability of affordable mobile broadband devices and tariffs. ”Mobile broadband (3G/4G) accounted for just over a quarter of total connections at the end of 2015, but is expected to account for almost two-thirds by 2020. “By mid-2016, there were 72 live 4G networks in 32 countries across Africa, half of which have launched in the last two years. Meanwhile, the number of smartphone connections[iii] in Africa is forecast to more than triple over the next five years, rising from 226 million in 2015 to 720 million by 2020”, the report revealed.

Mobile’s contribution to African GDP, Jobs and public funding to Increase

“The use of mobile technologies and services across Africa generated $153 billion in economic value last year, equivalent to 6.7 per cent of the region’s GDP. This contribution is expected to increase to $214 billion by 2020 (7.6 per cent of expected GDP) as countries in Africa continue to benefit from the improvements in productivity and efficiency brought about by increased take-up of mobile services. “Africa’s mobile ecosystem also supported 3.8 million jobs in 2015 and made a $17 billion contribution to the public sector via general taxation. The number of jobs supported is forecast to rise to 4.5 million by 2020, while the tax contribution is expected to increase to $20.5 billion”, the report said.

How To Turn Your Phone Into A Security Camera

Oleh bcoded - August 01, 2016
In a country where insecurity is a major problem, it is advisable to do all you can to safeguard your life and property and not wait for the government to do the job for you.
Setting up a home security system does not need to cost you an arm and a leg.

In fact, according to cnet.com, you don’t need to wait until you could afford to install a closed-circuit television in your home to secure your life and property.

All you need are two smartphones — one will be installed in your apartment while the other will be used to monitor what’s happening from anywhere you are.

As long as your phones are working properly and their rear cameras are functioning, you’re good to go. The process is very easy to set up, but not totally free.

Get a security camera app running on your phone:
To begin, you will need to choose a security camera app for your phone. Most apps offer up much of the same features, such as local streaming, cloud streaming, recording and storing footage locally or remotely, and motion detection and alerts.

Once you’re set up, you will be able to monitor your living space and control your security camera from anywhere, straight from your phone.

Installing security camers app on iOS

One of the best options for turning an iOS device into a security camera is an application called Manything (a mash-up of “Monitor anything”). With Manything, you can set up motion alerts, choose between a video or stills-only mode, and even integrate with IFTTT (an abbreviation of “If This Then That”) — a free web-based service that allows users to create chains of simple conditional statements, called “recipes,” which are triggered based on changes to other web services such as Gmail, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest — for virtually endless ways to configure your security camera.

Manything is a free download from the App Store and comes with a completely free plan, allowing up to one camera and free recording.

To get started:
Download Manything from the App Store to the two iOS
phones.

From the phone to be installed in your home, open Settings
and disable Auto Lock under General.

Register or sign in to Manything using an email address or
Facebook account.

Select Camera mode with the iOS device at home and Viewer
mode for the mobile device.
Press the red button from the home camera device to start
the live stream.

From the mobile phone, the live stream will appear in the list of streaming devices.

Alternatively, you
can view the stream from a computer by signing in at manything.com.

Installing security camera app on Android

The process for iOS device is very similar to that of an Android device, except that there is a different camera app for the latter.

Despite so many options to choose from, one of the best security camera applications available is IP Webcam.

There is a lite version available completely free of charge, but you will need to purchase the Pro version of the app for $3.99 (about N1,500) to unlock all features.

IP Webcam broadcasts both locally and over the cloud using a service called Ivideon, so you can view your stream, live, from anywhere.

To setup your Android phone as a security camera:

Download IP Webcam from Google Play to the home device.
Launch IP Webcam and set your video preferences, effects, power management settings, and motion or sound detecting, if desired. (To broadcast the stream remotely, register or sign in to Ivideon, test compatibility and enable the cloud stream).

To start the stream, select Start server at the very bottom of the app.

To view the stream on your mobile device: Find the provided IP address and port number on the phone setup as a security camera.

From another device (computer, smartphone, or tablet), enter the IP address in the address bar of the Web browser. Note that if you setup an Ivideon cloud stream, from a computer, visit ivideon.com and sign in to view.

Good day guys dis is the most interesting tech invention a bracelet dat turns ur screen to touch screen.[IMG]The Bracelet uses a pico projector and a row of eight proximity sensors that point towards the user's forearm. It operates as a standalone device and, when activated with a twist of the wrist, projects an Android interface onto the users arm, much like Chris Harrison's Skinput research.

The proximity sensors detect where the user's finger or fingers are and allow them to interact with the interface as they would any other Android device.

It runs on Android operating system according to the team behind the product.
It mirrors your smartphone’s screen and lets you interact with it just as if you are using your smartphone.

The Bracelet is compatible with iPhone and Android smartphone devices and it's water resistant, The battery capacity is yet known but it is a removable battery. [IMG]

but it is not out for sale yet.

Download our android app below to stay updated and get intact with our articles .
You will be notified once this product is out officially in the market.

You may not know it but images are good ways to get your site, even more, visibility on google and I will show you just how to do so in this post.
Images can help you in different ways but the most important thing about them is that it helps your users understand what you are trying to say better and this is enough reason to start using them.
Speaking in terms of SEO, you will probably want to rank your site content and images for some specific keywords and this is cool especially for images.

Some people believe that better images ranking will help you yo attain better overall ranking. while I don't know the validity of this statement, I can say that there is an element of truth in it because ranking for your images means that your site actually provides visual content which google and everyone else knows is important to convey your message across to the user easily and in no time, so why won't you try to rank your images?

Here are some tips to improve your image ranking

  1. Low size: Compress your images, keep them under 60Kb.
  2. Keep them larger, for instance; 900px x 900px or 900px x 600px because they convey messages better than the much smaller ones.
  3. Use fresh images, stay away from old ones. learn more about fresh content here
  4. Don't download and reuse; images online. I already spoke about downloading and using images from google and how they can stop you from getting an adsense account due to copyrights issue.
  5. Rename your images. Example; image-serach-engine-optimization-entertainment-bloggers.jpg
  6. Use Title tags. Very important for Search engine because it shows what the image is all about on hovering. also helps the disabled understand your page.
  7. Use alt tags
  8. Rename your uploads with whatever you wanna rank for while maintaining seo sanity
  9. Cc license

What is Cc license: Creative commons license.
These are basically images you can download from google and reuse them because the owner has filed a license enabling free reuse of such images.
Google will probably want to display such images because people mostly look for images they can use.

Thanks for reading my post about images and seo. More coming your way. but right now, do you have any contributions to make?

Major Problems Nigerians Face With Adsense:

Oleh bcoded - July 30, 2016

Hello, Nigerians lets discuss google AdSenseand how it has affected Nigerians over the years. I got the inspiration to write this post from a seminar I went attended to recently in which a Nigerian, frustrated one as you can guess publicly criticized google Adsense and their corrupt practices meted towards Nigeria. In this post, we will see how Nigerians feel about making money with google Adsense and also hear stories from people based on what hey have to say over the years about Adsense.

We all knows what AdSense means. A means by which google pays publishers to put up adverts on their site. Adsense is simply part of a gigantic ad network owned by google, the other part of the network being AdWords. For reasons unknown to me, google has decided to separate google ad words from google Adsense but that's not the topic of today.

As an AdSense user and a Nigerian who have over the years observed the going of Adsense in my country.
The different stages involved in Adsense and how they kick people around like a football am writing this post with a little bit of annoyance but that doesn't get in the way of what I will be sharing here because they are all 100% real. I will look at the various stages one has to pass through in order to get Adsense, how someone actually earns after all this and finally the most common thing about these guys: BAN.

Stages of Adsense in Nigeria; where AdSense got it all wrong
1. First Adsense problem: Getting an AdSense account in nigeria

Trust me, getting an Adsense account as a Nigerian is just like marrying an Owerri girl! It's never a one-way thing except for those that just manages to get Adsense as though its dropped from the moon. What do I mean by this?

Adsense is fond of frustrating the life of bloggers in the name of approval. I have nothing against their review because quality blogs are meant to be rewarded for their hard work but the process involved in this is exhausting. There are a thousand and one tips online for people to get Adsense account but even if you join them all, there is always something missing as AdSense will usually send the "account declined" message to you. Here in Nigeria, I have seen bloggers who have set up blogs just for the sole purpose of getting Adsense account, humbly following all their funny rules from A-Z and ended up getting the same denial message.

Acquiring Adsense account in Nigeria is so difficult that you find out there are market places just for selling Adsense almost everywhere now, Offline, Online, etc. And these accounts are sold for several hundreds of dollars. I have seen someone who placed a price tag of 100,000 naira [$500] on a single Adsense.
I have seen another sell an AdSense account for 50,000 naira [$250]. This may be wrong but what other choices does Adsense leave people with? Surely not everyone with a great site design and content is willing to through AdSense's hectic drilling process.

Before you get it wrong, Am not saying that Adsense should approve accounts that are under their requirements. Am saying they should not be wasting the time of those that have already met their requirements and give them access to start earning. In all, I will like to say that this is not the case with every country such as their own country of origin, The Almighty USA where everything is so cheap and free. US applicants are clearly favored in everything, from approval to earning except the taxes they pay during withdrawal but of course the tax means nothing when CPC is skyrocketing to mars.Even Nigerians that apply for Adsense using US Adsense get quick approval in support of the above claim.

Final words: Adsense, you have to loosen up a bit, Approve sites that are worth it and continue to frustrate those that are only interested in spaming the web with copy but never mix them up as you are clearly fond of!
